We create a collaborative environment where the unique needs of each child are recognized and met

Academic Coaching

In an era of overcrowded classrooms and post-pandemic learning gaps, overburdened teachers are working tirelessly to meet the needs of each of their students. Unfortunately, the system is set up to adequately meet the needs of a small number of learners. Many students are left feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, and inadequate— this is especially true for neurodivergent kids and students with learning disabilities. Kids who struggle start to internalize the message that they are “not living up to their potential” or that they are lazy and unmotivated.

When students get behind, families are often expected to try to help at home. Is the constant nagging about homework and missed assignments straining your relationship with your kid? Do you feel overwhelmed by all the ways that your child needs support? Parenting is hard enough. Leave the new-fangled math to us!

Broadleaf Learning offers individualized academic support that bridges the gap. Let us handle the academics, so that you can focus on what matters: quality time with your family.

Our approach celebrates each child's uniqueness, unlocking their full potential and boosting their confidence! We will guide your child as they build the skills necessary to become a motivated, self-directed learner.

Who can benefit from academic coaching?

Traditional tutoring focuses on filling subject-specific gaps is often a band-aid solution. Tutors, who are subject matter experts, provide authoritative guidance to fill gaps in content knowledge. The goals are short term: remedial instruction and higher grades in a specific subject. Wouldn’t you rather get to the root cause of your child’s challenges?

Academic coaching focuses on gaining confidence and executive functioning skills, along side subject-specific skills. Coaches, who specialize in learning and child development, establish a collaborative relationship with students, parents, and teachers. We build on the student’s unique strengths to help them develop techniques to support them across all subjects. Coaches guide students in learning how to learn: self advocacy, organization, study skills, planning, and stress management. In addition to building these life long skills, we provide targeted skill reinforcement and supported work time.

Special Education Advocacy

Who can benefit from IEP/ 504 Advocacy?

It's important to acknowledge that schools, while well-intentioned, are often not naturally equipped to meet the unique needs of neurodivergent children. This places a significant burden on parents who find themselves in the position of advocating for their child’s right to an inclusive education.

You might be experiencing a range of issues, such as struggling to secure appropriate accommodations, facing resistance from school personnel, or feeling overwhelmed by the bureaucratic intricacies of the special education process. It can be disheartening to see your child's needs taking a back seat in a system that should prioritize their well-being.

We can support you in navigating the IEP/504 process: translating your child’s unique needs into actionable plans and effectively advocating for those plans within the school system. Elise has been through this process alongside countless families; she has also been through it herself as a student. Our goal is to empower you to become a confident advocate for your child, ensuring that their neurodivergent traits are not just accommodated, but accepted and celebrated.

The support of an advocate aims to reduce parent stress and support the child’s educational progress and well-being.
